Amazon FBA fee calculator
Free, no sign-up, runs in your browser.
Amazon does not charge one fee, it charges four, and they behave differently. The referral fee is a percentage of what the buyer pays. Fulfilment is a flat amount decided by the size tier your packed box falls into. Storage is per cubic foot per month and triples from October. Some categories add a flat closing fee. This calculator computes each from the published schedules and shows them separately, because the mix is what tells you whether to change the product or the price.
The formula
Referral = max(category rate × price, category minimum). Fulfilment = the band your size tier and billable weight fall into. Storage = cubic feet × monthly rate × months. Billable weight is the greater of actual and dimensional weight.
A worked example
A $29.99 product that lands at $8.00, sold on Amazon FBA in Home & Kitchen, 10×6×3 inches and 20 ounces packed:
| Revenue kept | $29.99 |
|---|---|
| Total fees | $10.35 |
| Total costs | $10.00 |
| Profit per unit | $9.64 |
| Margin | 32.14% |
| Markup | 96.4% |
| ROI | 96.4% |
What to watch
- Dimensional weight is length × width × height ÷ 139, in pounds. A light item in a big box is billed on the box, which is why packaging design is a margin decision.
- The small-standard tier is judged on actual weight, not dimensional — the one place the rule differs, and worth an inch of cardboard to stay inside.
- Almost every category has a minimum referral fee. Below roughly $2 you pay the minimum rather than the percentage, which quietly doubles the fee rate on cheap items.
- Storage from October to December is about three times the rest of the year. Stock that arrives in September and sells in January is charged at the peak rate for the whole quarter.
The trap
Measuring the product instead of the packed box. Fulfilment is priced on what Amazon handles, so the dimensions that matter are the outer carton with the item inside it.
Questions
Why is the fulfilment fee higher than I expected?
Dimensional weight. Fulfilment is billed on the greater of actual and dimensional weight, so a 10-ounce item in a 12×10×4 box is billed as if it weighed about 3.5 pounds. Shrinking the box is often worth more than shrinking the product.
Does this include the monthly Professional plan?
Only when you tick the box to spread it over your monthly volume. It is listed as its own line so you can see how much of your per-unit cost is actually a fixed subscription.
Are these the rates for my country?
The tables here are the US schedules. Rates differ by marketplace, so if you sell in another country put your own figures in under “Adjust fee rates” and the whole site will use them.
Rates on this page are the published schedules as of 2025-01-15 and are applied by the same code the calculator runs. Marketplaces reprice — confirm against your own seller dashboard before setting a price.
