TikTok Shop charges a commission on the order and little else, and the rate has risen steadily as the platform has matured. Introductory rates for new sellers are common and temporary, which makes it the channel most worth re-checking against your own dashboard.

The same product at three prices

One product — $29.99 list, bought for $8.00, $1.50 inbound, $0.50 other costs — priced at three points, because the fee rate you actually pay depends on the price.

$29.99$2.709%$17.2957.7%
$75.00$6.308.4%$58.7078.3%

Notice the fee rate falls as the price rises. That is the fixed component — a per-order charge or an amortised subscription — spreading over a bigger sale. It is why a channel that looks expensive on a cheap item can be the cheapest on an expensive one.

How it compares

On this product at this price it places 4 of 9. WooCommerce (own store) leaves $1.53 more per unit. That gap is only part of the story: a marketplace brings traffic your own store has to pay for, so budget the advertising that replaces it before switching.

What to watch

Promotional commission rates expire. Price on the standard rate, not the introductory one, or the margin disappears on a date you did not plan for.

Questions

What commission does TikTok Shop charge?

Around 8% plus a small per-order amount for established sellers, though new sellers are often on a lower introductory rate. On our $29.99 example that is $2.70, about 9%.

Does affiliate commission come on top?

Yes. Creator commission is set by you per product and is charged in addition to the platform fee. Add it under “other costs” — at a typical 10–20% it is usually larger than the platform's own cut.

Are the rates stable?

Less so than the established marketplaces. Check your seller centre before pricing and correct the rate here under “Adjust fee rates” if it has moved.

Rates on this page are the published schedules as of 2025-01-15 and are applied by the same code the calculator runs. Marketplaces reprice — confirm against your own seller dashboard before setting a price.
